Working as part of the University Safety Services Team, you will be responsible for providing professional support, advice and guidance on all aspects of Health and Safety across academic departments, laboratories and facilities. The ideal candidate will have well developed communication skills, an engaging approach and the ability to work closely with a range of stakeholders to maintain a safe working environment.

The University is a world-leader in science teaching and research, with a particular emphasis on genetic modification technologies, so you will also be acting as a Biological Safety Officer with responsibility for advising on the following:

  • Local Rules in all departments involved in genetic modification work
  • Investigation of accidents, spillages etc and maintain records
  • Safe storage of genetic modification material in departments
  • Inspections of genetic modification facilities throughout UCL
  • Provide technical support to the GM Safety Committee
