Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire | Salary: £59,461 + 30 days holiday + 10.5 bank holidays + Christmas shutdown + flexible working + generous CARE pension* + benefits
A unique opportunity to join an internationally renowned scientific research facility, leading a team of 11 to deliver high standards of health & safety leadership and management across this complex site. This high-profile role reports directly to the Head of Safety, Health & Environment and works closely with a wide range of stakeholders, offering great opportunities to use and develop your skills to make a difference to UK science.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Lead a team to deliver professional Health & Safety advice and guidance
- Implement and monitor Health, Safety & Environmental management systems
- Maintain positive working relationships and organisational safety culture
- Manage investigations, reporting and safety performance
- Work closely with committees, trade unions, scientists, safety representatives, responsible persons, and external regulatory bodies
- Prepare and deliver engaging, innovative and effective training
We are looking for someone with Health & Safety leadership and management experience, effective communication skills and the ability to engage and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will hold:
- CMIOSH status (or working towards)
- NEBOSH Diploma or other Level 5/6/7 Health & Safety qualification
- Experience in the science, engineering or technology sector
