Overview

Henfield, West Sussex | £35-55K + car + benefits

An established civil engineering business employing a team of 70 and providing services to private clients, local authorities, and main contractors have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to join their team. The company undertakes a variety of civil engineering projects including groundworks, car parks, drainage, highways, and foundation works across West Sussex, so some travel will be required.

You will report to the Managing Director and work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, so good communication and client-facing skills are essential. It is anticipated that there will be a 50:50 split between office and site-based work, but this will vary depending on operational priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 accreditations
  • Coordinate CDM activities when appointed Principal Contractor
  • Provide HSEQ advice and guidance across civils projects, corporate and recycling facilities
  • Maintain training matrix, deliver inductions and tool-box talks
  • Undertake RAMS, accident investigations and site audits

This would be a great opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager looking for a varied, stand-alone role to consolidate skills, knowledge, and experience. Equally, the company will consider a Health & Safety Advisor looking for a step-up, and would be willing to support further training and development.

The ideal candidate will hold:

  • NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Construction or NEBOSH Diploma
  • Audit qualification and be familiar with ISO HSEQ Management Systems
  • CDM experience.
  • Membership of IOSH.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Full driving licence.
