Overview

Location: Kings Cross, London (site-based) | Salary: £39,508 – £47,355

This role is responsible for providing general support and assistance to the Fire Safety Manager and Fire Safety Officers in maintaining a fire safe environment across 260 buildings. This will include supervising the maintenance of fire extinguishers, their provision, stocks and working schedules, and supervising the maintenance of statutory / fire signage, their provision, stocks, undertaking installation and fixing as necessary. Liaising with maintenance contractors, you will work closely with them on the testing and maintenance of fire safety equipment and systems.

You will ensure fire safety compliance and good practice, identify non-compliances, issues or deficiencies, and take appropriate action to resolve or escalate as necessary and will assist in the organisation organization and prioritization of fire safety work including actions arising from fire risk assessments, fire prevention advice, fire signage, fire alarms, maintenance of portable firefighting equipment and extinguishers. Please note that this role is 100% onsite/campus based.

To excel in this role, you need demonstrable experience of managing maintenance systems and processes and experience of safe of using tools to fix and install equipment and signage. The ideal candidate will have excellent IT skills including Outlook e-mail, Word, Excel, Acrobat, Web based programmes such as workplace management tools like Planet, FAMIS or Planon and AutoCAD. You will need an understanding of how to carry out simple fire and other risk assessments, produce method statements for work activities on a range of fire safety activities.
