Salary: £400/day | Location: Bristol | 3-month FTC

Bryan & Armstrong are delighted to be working exclusively with a large, complex, fast-paced business to recruit a Health & Safety Manager, initially on a 3-month fixed-term contract. At an operational level, you will be responsible for helping to provide a safe working environment for employees, business partners and customers, whilst promoting a positive health and safety culture. You will also be responsible for providing technical health & safety advice, support, and guidance to the business, ensuring systems, policies and procedures are effective and fit for purpose.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a customer-focused environment, with excellent communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders to achieve health & safety objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Fire Safety staff on fire safety management matters
  • Delivering Health & Safety awareness and training programmes
  • Contribute to the Health, Safety & Sustainability forum
  • Chair and lead a cross-functional Health & Safety committee
  • Undertake risk assessments across the site
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents are fully reported and investigated
  • Undertake frequent safety inspections and checks
  • Provide monthly reports to the Executive Board
  • Support the maintenance, execution and testing of Emergency and Contingency Plans

We are ideally looking for:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards (GradIOSH or CertIOSH)
  • Significant experience in an operational environment, ideally a dynamic, 24/7, customer-facing business
  • Demonstrable experience with ISO 45001 systems
  • Operational leadership and people management skills
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively managing third parties and contractors
  • Tenacious, resilient and positive nature, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving
