World leading university with over 200 buildings in central London have an opportunity for a Safety Advisor to join their central health & safety team. The main purpose of the role is to provide advice, assurance, and assistance on safety matters to departments across the university, with a particular focus on the Estates Division in relation to construction and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure. Safety Advisor responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a safety contact for academic departments
  • Delivering safety training and coaching
  • Providing safety advice, support and guidance
  • Conducting audits and inspections
  • Investigating accidents / incidents and reporting findings

Alongside your general Safety Advisor responsibilities, you will also have special responsibility for construction and facilities maintenance:

  • Key contact for advice on construction and maintenance safety
  • Support projects at all key stages, feasibility, design, tender, on site and handover
  • Oversee the safety monitoring of construction and maintenance works
  • Provide construction safety advice to Estates Project Officers
  • Review activities undertaken by Estates team

The ideal candidate will hold:

  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH)
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • Background in construction and maintenance safety
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills
